Anniversary trip - chapter 2.

Hi everyone :)

So after spending 5 hours in Dundee, we were off to Scotland's capital.
When we arrived the weather was cloudy and a bit chilly, but soon afterwards the clouds were clearing up, and we enjoyed the sunshine.

Here the pictures I took from the first day, where we visited the Holyrood park, the Palace, the Scottish Parliament, a bunch of fancy statues and buildings.

Interesting that the city has a tram line.

From the bus station we headed to Holyrood Park, and during the approx. 45 min walk we saw many nice buildings.

And many statues.

This is how the Holyrood Park looks like. Unfortunately (because I wasn't dress for hiking) we couldn't go up, but next time, we'll definitely climb up to the top. :D

Maxim enjoys the nice weather and sunshine. Seeing him like this always warms my heart. <3

From the park I started to wander off to a place where I saw these flowers.

And it turned out that on one side of these flowers is the Scottish Parliament, and on the other side is the Palace of Holyrood.

The parliament building.

Back of the Palace.

The gates.. The whole palace has a some sort of Buckingham palace aurora just smaller. And to be honest the whole Edinburgh has a London feel just smaller. The palace has its own gift shop too, filled up with the same stuff you can find in the Buckingham palace gift shop. (You will see what I am talking about).

The palace. I was already closed by the time we arrived. :/

Unicorns everywhere.. Being Scotland's national animal it really is not a surprise that almost everywhere at least one unicorn can be found.

As I said, Unicorns everywhere, even in the gift shop. Even the label says 'Buckingham Palace'. But also stuff with Holyrood Palace could be found. And a tons of H&M embroidered blue gifts (thanks to the royal wedding)

One of the many H&M things.

Then from the gift shop we walked back to the main street in the city centre, and in the window of one restaurant (it was already closed) I saw this poor animal. We went  back to the other day, and saw another one, only that one was still whole.

Nice flower entrance of a pub.

It started raining and all of the sudden the many tourists disappeared (not we tho XD), the streets were quiet  and everything had a calm atmosphere.

I had to took this picture.. :D Maxim was not impressed (as you can see from his face :P ) He was sleepy, the air was cold and it was raining. I have no regrets.

Here comes the same St Giles' Cathedral just in different angles.

Scott Monument to the writer Sir Walter Scott.  It is an impressive and beautiful monument even in a rainy, cold evening. The day was almost over, and we headed to our hotel.

Which was 2 minutes from Heriot-Watt Uni, which has modern buildings and a gorgeous park around the buildings. Therefore, no matter how tired we were, we checked in and went to explore the Uni and its neighborhood.

Waiting for the bus to come. Maxim's mood improved a lot upon hearing that his walking hours for that day are counted. (We haven't known about the Uni yet tho.. )
