Anniversary trip chapter 3.

Well, hello again everyone.

So, we left off (like half a year ago) with us having an evening walk around the Heriot-Watt university.
It really was a great walk. In case you haven't noticed yet, we both like to take long walks.

On the next morning, we had breakfast and took an early bus back to the city center to explore the rest of the city. We visited Calton Hill, Edinburgh Castle and even the Royal Botanic Garden among many other small parks.

We started with Calton Hill, since that was the farthest away from the things we wanted to visit.
This place was a bit similar to Gellert Hill. Maybe it was only for us, mavbe it is only the memories, but we felt like home.

This is the Dugald Stewart Monument. Probably one of Edinburgh's most popular tourist destination.
As you can see the weather was not nice, it was a bit chilly that early morning, but at least it was not raining.

From this place we could see the whole city and all of its notable sights.

Oh by the way, I bribed Maxim for this picture :P
He was not impressed first but,...

.. He quickly got used to it :P

So after this, we decided to aim for the castle next. We saw a couple of nice buildings, monuments, and temples. Here comes some representative pictures.

..And with this, and couple of hours later we arrived to the castle where the security was surprisingly tight. Like they searched through our bags tight. But anyway, we were finally there. :D (please ignore my finger)

From here (since he PROMISED we would go to a museum if we had time) we went to the National Galleries of Scotland.

Even tho, Maxim hates museums, he pretty much enjoyed himself :D
From the gallery we ehm again, found ourselves walking on the streets of the city centre. Aaand what we could come across then a Slavic comrade statue.. :D

(this is the castle)

(and this is me waiting for Max to take a tolerable picture of me. (he didn't manage to do so..)

Ok, so just a note on how do we go for a walk.. It is not like we don't have a destination, we do, but anytime we see something nice, we just start to walk towards that. And this happened here a lot. This is how we ended up in a confectionery (for Maxim's greatest delight) and in a beautiful area I couldn't find on the map. (In the first picture you can see me running away with all the cakes we bought :D, 2. and 3. shows that peaceful place.)

We found a bench under a bridge, and ate all the cakes :P

From here, we went to the botanic garden. Maxim, ehm,  was a bit against it, but it was my turn to choose a place (after the museum :P) so we found our way to there.  And before you think how I could be this cruel to him, he enjoyed it even better than I did. (He really looked like a child who finally can go outside and play. :D )

So here comes the botanic garden. It is a 70 acre garden with guided walks and different areas.
We spent a fine time here, explored everything, Maxim even became a squirrel whisperer (I couldn't even go close to them) :D

After this, we headed back to the station (of course in a different route than we came). All what was  on our to see list (for this time) we visited, so it was time for us to go home. :)

The End.
